Event details:
On Monday, February 06, 2023, at Dar El Imam in Mohammedia (Algiers), the activities of the 18th edition of the Algerian International Prize for the recitation of the Holy Quran and for the revival of Islamic heritage were launched under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the participation of 52 countries representing the Arab and Islamic world.
The Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Dr. Youssef Belmehdi, supervised the opening of the competition activities, in the presence of several members of the government and senior officials from several national authorities. Competition activities for the prize will take place over a three-day period (February 6-8), via videoconference. This year's competition is part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of independence, and will conclude with the honoring of the first three winners during an official ceremony on February 17, 2023, organized at the occasion of the celebration of the blessed night of Isra and Mi'raj.
It should be noted that the organization of the Algerian International Prize, established in 2004, concerns candidates under the age of 25, who have not previously obtained one of the first three prizes during the previous sessions. In addition, known reciters or professional reciters are not allowed to participate in this event.
Algeria will be represented in this competition by the reciter Chaima Anfal Tabani.
